A new year, a new venture

Isaiah 43:19

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

As we all move into 2018, we do so with trepidation.  For many of us 2017 was a life altering year.  Within our church family many felt the pain of loss, others exhilarated at the prospect of new life.  My life was turned upside-down in about a months span from August 20th-Sept 17th.  In that short time I became the pastor of Woodville, I resigned from my job at Baptist hospital, put our future in the hands of God, and found out we were expecting our first child.   We do not know what is coming in the new year but we do know one thing.  It is all within God’s plan.  I truly believe that the future is bright for Woodville Baptist Church.  He has called his people to be an example in this world.  A called-out people to show that His great mercy has been extended to this world.  I pray that we continue in his will.  I pray that the future of Woodville is to be the ones who point to the way in the wilderness.  Remember Christ says “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” He came to show us the path back to God.  HIM.  For us that have come to know God through that relationship, He has become the river in the desert.  We may not understand the deserts in our life.  When things are hard, they seem unending, all hope is lost, he comes and refreshes us.  Imagine being surrounded by endless sand in the middle of the desert and at the moment of despair, the oasis appears in the distance.  That is our hope in God.  Yes life seems difficult, but with Him there is still hope.  Don’t give up child, the best is yet to come.  He will do a new thing. He will give you hope.
